About me
Ryan is a media worker, organizer, and movement scientist. He has worked at one of the nation's most esteemed Black think tanks, one of Chicago's top Tech PR agencies, and a top three global PR firm. While in corporate, he consulted brands such as Facebook, Samsung, Amazon, and Google.
In 2020 he quit his corporate job to become a full-time community organizer amidst the uprisings. Shortly after, he founded one of the nation's fastest-growing Black digital news startups, The Kansas City Defender. Under his leadership, the radical Black-led organization has won over five national awards, broken over 15 national news stories, and reached over 50 million people in two years. The organization's innovative tactics for community-building and reaching Gen Z audiences have earned it national acclaim.
