Neil Chase is chief executive officer at CalMatters. He was previously executive editor at The Mercury News and East Bay Times, where his team won the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Reporting. He has also worked as an editor at The San Francicsco Examiner, The Arizona Republic, CBS MarketWatch and The New York Times, and he was an assistant professor at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.
